...I did tell you that caravans can also do it. Of course they can, I can't think of any reason why they could not. Also, like I believe I have stated, if you're not sending a professor to personally teach the technology/discovery to your trade partners, one of your professors still need to take a few seasons of time to make a "textbook" of sorts of it. Then it gets sent to the recipient of the technology, and they need to spend a few seasons learning it.

However, if you send a professor, all it takes is one season of teaching + travel times. You'll have to send him to enemy territory, though. Well, unless they send a professor to receive the teaching personally somewhere else and their professor teaches the thing to them. Make sense?

It's silly to use a whole Caravan to send a textbook, but I get it! My question was not if Caravans can ALSO do it, but rather, if ONLY Caravans/Professors themselves can do it. I still think a Spymaster/Missionary/Commander handing over a textbook is kind of weird.

Well, I could see any of them doing so depending on the science. Really, you just need to send someone, doesn't matter who, IMO.

I'm not happy with the agent numbers, especially the professors. 4 professors without any type of research building? Howaboutno? Especially since they only cost 2,000 gold to recruit! Tone down the number of missionaries and professors players can obtain, and increase the costs and upkeep.

I had some of the same thoughts. I need to adjust the Agent buildings in both Settled and Advanced regions anyways, so it's a good time to revisit the Agent caps and then reexamine costs.

Alright, better? If we don't start out with any Agents, we'll have to build their respective building in our starting settlement before we can train 'em. I'd like to start with at least 1 Commander and 1 Diplomat.

Commander is unnecessary - you start with a combat paragon. Combat paragons are the paragon equivalent of a commander, just like the other paragons are basically upgraded agents. I'd say one of each, but no commander.
